Hi
Don't know what to do, but was asked to do steps 6-9 by boopme and post it here. I did the defogger and disabled the cd should I re-enable? or wait?
I have been experiencing problems with clicking on links where the link or picture link will move up or down when I click on it and not open till I click on it a second time. I removed TR/jump with combo fix on my own unexperienced self?? the gmer log ark.txt is taking a while to load to this post sorry. At the top of the ark.txt is a stopzilla reference? I removed that a while back, and must be a remnant. because the gmer is to large to load in this post? I will copy and paste into reply. I ran comb earlier and a screen popped up saying Pev.exe stopped runing then disappeared, and a catchme.dll has been showing up and then disappearing? and who knows what else?
Thanks
TedIV

Okay, first things first, TedIV.

Please note: ComboFix is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert." It is NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer.

Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Both Pev.exe and catchme.dll are part of Combofix so really we need to concentrate on how the PC is performing now.

Are you having any problems with it at the moment?

Some freezing up sometimes the comp is slow and then not and then misdirects?
I had a problem with TR/jump and I searched the net for some code to help like I usually do, and found a discussion board where they where talking about the tr/jump and using combo fix and also getting rid of spybot and avg just use mbam, avast, ccleaner, sophos and use combofix to help.
The person helping the other I followed his instructions and it worked. Then I started having Pev.exe pop up and catchme.dll along with the other problems I mentioned. I went into BC here and was reading and OH OH crazy.gif I hope I did nothing wrong being I did all of what the pro said to do for the person he was helping.

Well, the problem with reading other fixes is that they are for that person and that person only. Everyone's PC, situation and infection is different.

No harm done here though.

Did you uninstall Combofix?

Uninstall ComboFix
  • Disable any realtime antivirus or antispyware programs.
  • Please press the Windows Key and R on your keyboard. This will bring up the Run... command.
(For Vista/Windows 7 please click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Run)
  • Now type in Combofix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. (Notice the space between "Combofix" and "/")
  • Please follow the prompts to uninstall Combofix.
  • You will then receive a message saying Combofix was uninstalled successfully once it's done uninstalling itself.
This will uninstall Combofix and anything associated with it.

Hi
I clicked the ok button to uninstall. and it was successful. I followed instructions from boopme asked me to do 6-9 and one was to disable the cd with defogger, should I re-enable? which was my second post here and orangeblossom told me to wait in here, and "From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean."
>for someone who was qualified to help further.< sorry for the misquote huh.gif I sometimes use words to loosely.
Thanks..
Thanks

Okay, let's run some removal tools and see if there's anything there.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application or, if you are using Vista, right-click and select Run As Administrator on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

Then

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Double-click on the hyperlink for Download Installer and save SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to your desktop. Then double-click on SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to install the definitions.)
  • In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.
  • Click the Scanning Control tab.
  • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
  • Click Close to exit the program.

There's three entries there. Did you ask SAS to delete them?

Also, did you run MBAM as requested?

As we found some registry entries in SAS let's check for orphan files and other detritis with an ESET online scan

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
  1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  2. Click the button.
  3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    1. Click on to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    2. Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  4. Check
  5. Click the button.
  6. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  7. Leave the top box checked and then check
  8. Push the Start button.
  9. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  10. When the scan completes, push
  11. Push , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  12. Push the button.
  13. Push
NOTE: If no malware is found then no log will be produced. Let me know if this is the case.

Your choice. If you want to leave ESET on your system then you can. smile.gif

How is the PC running now? The logs say we're at the end of this fix.
