Hello and thanks in advance for any help here.

Have searched this and other forums, there seems to be a zillion responses to different people with similar problems, but after trying several, I think I need some customized help!

Earlier today I downloaded monitor drivers and from (what I thought was) viewsonic.com. Now I am not so sure because ever since installing them, I have had what appears to be a Google redirection virus of some kind. Here are the two symptoms:

1 - On a google search page, all results shown lead to a redirection page. I first noticed this because my "back button" was not actually taking me back, and by using the pulldown instead, I see an intermediate page such as shown below.

2- I have experienced 3 or 4 popups this afternoon to shopping type sites. Also when searching for solutions to this problem from both google and Bing, a shopping site came up instead of the intended micosoft or other forum help type site.

I have McAfee totalprotection running at all times, and I recently installed Malwarebytes as a possible fix. Neither of them finds any problems on either the fast or full scan.

Will try to attach a screenshot of problem #1, but don't see a way to attach files on ths forum?

thanks for any help again,

John

Just realized another symptom: I have no sound!

My soundcard is totally missing from DeviceManager, I checked and the WindowsAudio service is still "started"... XP cannot rediscover the sound card either.. grrrr
