To: Bleeping Computer people [I hope this the correct posting area]
I have had several problems for the past few weeks and am at a loss as to what I can do to solve them: I can't access my Hotmail ("cannot find server"); I can't update my Norton Antivirus or enable it, it turned off one day when I rebooted and won't enable again, also, automatic start up doesn't work; SpyBot, AdAware, Microsoft Security (Beta) won't update (also "cannot find server" or cannot connect to server); I can't get into Mozilla or its updates; I've tried to run Panda and Trend Micro Housecall, but they won't run; a notice pops up that I "may not have permission" to install/uninstall whatever I'm trying to do; several web sites, when I try to get into them, will show "cannot find server;" most of the web sites I go to have parts of the Windows "Action Cancelled" notice scattered throughout them; when I scan with the non-updated Norton Antivirus full system scan, it comes up with no viruses found; CWShredder finds nothing; Ewido finds lots of stuff and deletes it, but no change in performance; SpyBot and AdAware find minimal stuff, if any. Sorry this is so long, but I've got lots of problems -- the above details some of them. I have XP Home, SBC Yahoo DSL, HP Pavilion 503n (about 3 years old), if you need more info, I'll provide it. Hope someone can assist, this is very frustrating, to say the least, whatever I try to do doesn't make any difference. P.S.: I'm not the only one using this computer, my 9-year-old uses it too, and I don't know what-all he's gotten into!!!
