Hello everyone. I have an xp computer which dosen't boot. When turned on it loads the compaq screen then goes to a black cmd promt screen which I cant type anything. I can not boot in safe mode or use system recovery console. I was advised to buy a boot disk."Ultimate boot disk" The boot disk loads when I tried to do a system repair I get an error message that a file was missing. Is there a way to fix this problem that I am having?

do you have a xp install cd ? or recovery cd that came with your system ? a recovery partition may be on your hard drive. go to compaq web site and download manual for your machine, it should tell you how to do a recovery.

tell me your make and model and i will help you.
