well im an idiot and tried to download a program from limewire.

after my computer freaking out and launching limewire time and time again i uninstalled it and am rid of it forever. well now im stuck with some 180solutions, inetget, istnet(i think), files: mc-58-12-0000137.exe and mc-58-12-0000140.exe.

i get rid of everything and reboot then it comes back with more than before. some of the stuff says i cant even delete it.

ETA: forgot to mention the programs i have already run. i have ran spyware doctor, xoftspy, and bazooka. after finding this website i have ran spybot and adaware and of course hijackThis.

if anyone can help me i would be much appreciated.

Welcome afplayboy18 to Bleeping Computer.

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop.
Please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder.

***

Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Run Ewido --- When you run it for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.
***

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\services32.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\services.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlog.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-58-12-0000140.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-58-12-0000140.exe

For these files, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.
Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

***

Then run HijackThis, click Scan, and place a checkmark by the following item:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\Userinit.exe

O2 - BHO: Internet Explorer Web Content Catcher - {FFF4E223-7019-4ce7-BE03-D7D3C8CCE884} - C:\Program Files\DNS\Catcher.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [] winlog.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [] winlog.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [services32] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-58-12-0000140.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DNS] C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-58-12-0000140.exe

***

Next, run Ewido again.
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
***

Reboot back to normal mode.

***

Please do an online virus scan with Panda ActiveScan Here. You need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.
  • Once you get to the Panda site, scroll down a bit and click on Scan your PC
  • A new window will appear; click on Check Now!
  • A new window will appear; fill in the boxes (Country, State, email addy)
  • Click on Scan Now! >
If you have never used ActiveScan before, you will be prompted to install an ActiveX control (asinst.cab) : click on Install. Panda will install the component, and then install the latest signature files.
  • From "Select a device to scan...", choose "My Computer"
  • Allow the scan to run. It'll take a while.
  • When complete, click on "See Report", and then on "Save report"; save it to a convenient location.
  • I will need you to post that report in your next reply; simply open the text file, then copy/paste the content here.
***

Also post me the Ewido log and a fresh HijackThis log.
Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Please remove Maxifiles:
Move to Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs.
Within Add/Remove programs click the "Install/Uninstall" tab or click the "Change or Remove Programs" button.
Within this section you will see a listing of programs that are currently installed that support this feature. If the program I’m advising you to uninstall is listed within this list, highlight it and click the Add/Remove or uninstall option or button.

If the program is not listed within this list, let me know. Move on to the next step.

***

Go to this page and click on 'start virus detection'. A popup window will appear. An activeX component will be downloaded, please allow it. See if you can save the report when it's done. I'd like to see what it did.

Download and install Cleanup from here (Alternate site if the above is not working, go Here)

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

***

Use Windows Explorer to remove this folder:
C:\Program Files\180search Assistant Programs\

***

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each

C:\Program Files\ProSiteFinder\lrp49rit.DLL
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-58-12-0000137.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-58-12-0000137.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InetGet\mc-58-12-0000140.exe

For these files, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.
Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

Post me a fresh HijackThis log to check please.

  • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
  • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Your system will now reboot afterwards.
  • Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.

Did you remove these files?

C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-58-12-0000137.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-58-12-0000137.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InetGet\mc-58-12-0000140.exe

Please turn of Xoftspy.

Please disable SpybotSD’s protection, as it may hinder the removal of the infection. You can enable it after you're clean.

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on Resident icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box and/or Uncheck Resident.
Close Spybot.

Then, do the HijackThis part again.

Reboot and post back with a fresh HijackThis log.

Let's do this in another way.

Open Notepad.
Copy the text from the box to an empty file.
Save it as ‘export.bat’ to your desktop.
Choose ‘save as all types *.*’

regedit /e c:\domains.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"

Close Notepad.

Find ‘export.bat’ on your desktop.
Doubleclick the file. It will create a file called ‘domains.txt’ on c:\
Copy the entire text and past it to your reply here in this topic.

***

Please download FileFind from Atribune.
Unzip the file and save it to your desktop.

To run FileFind, please do the following:
  • Click on FileFind.exe
  • In the box labeled "Enter the directory to search"
    • Enter Drive eg.. C:\
  • In the box labeled "Enter the file to search"
    • Enter
      mc-58-12-0000140.exe
  • Now click on the "Find" button
  • Once the utility has found the files click on "Export"
  • This will save a text file to your C:\ drive as "Export.txt"
  • Double click on Export.txt, copy and paste this information in your next post

 That's funny. The thing I'm worried about isn't in here. It shouldn't be in the HijackThis log then either.

Can you remove all previous HijackThis logs. Then, rescan using HijackThis and post me that log please.
