Deleting search items in Google

Ok gang....many of you have helped me with some issues in the past for which I am eternally grateful and I'm back asking for more. Don't know if this is the right place to post this but here goes....

I used to be able to delete items in the Google search bar by hi-lighting and hitting delete. But for some reason I'm no longer able to do this. I've also backspaced but the little boogers are still there.

Need help pleeeeeese....

Open your browser:
Tools>Options>Content Tab>Auto Complete Button>Put a checkmark in the items you want to clear>Click Clear Forms
