A quick question if I may, Hopefully I'm in the right spot too.

Given the popularity of 64 bit Windows such a Vista and Windows 7. I have a suspicion that many of the free tools may not work or may not work properly on a 64Bit OS.

Which leads me to wonder what is used? I've stayed away from win7 64Bit for now and loaded Win7 32Bit on the main computer I use to surf the net etc.

I do run a cheapo laptop that is only used for online banking, Bill paying, Shopping on Legitimate sites such as Newegg and I did my taxes on it too. I do no surfing or email on it as I'm a bit paranoid (Cautious?) that way.

Thanks for any Information.

rotor123, 64-bit Windows is fast becoming the norm. Many (if not most) security programs have 64-bit support these days.

Here is a good, free anti-virus: Avast

Great info, quietman7.

Keep in mind, Avast also has 64-bit support, even though it wasn't in qm7's list: http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#tab2 :flowers:

But yeah, there are plenty of options.

OK, Great, Thanks

I did end up with Win7 Pro 32Bit since it was free. I got it from one of our Laptop vendors. It was a Free Promotional copy I got when I took one of their surveys. The price was right. Even if I only show 3Gb out of the memory I have in the computer. The most I've seen used is around 2Gb so for now, if it ain't broke I ain't fixing it.
