I've been using the old Sidekick 99 for years and when my computers were 'updated' to XP Pro, had difficulty installing that software. I queried a forum and received a suggested method, which was to rename the old wininit.ini file, reboot and install then. Worked like a charm.

A few months back I had to have Win XP Pro re-installed after a meltdown and had no trouble installing Sidekick 99. However recently, on my laptop, Sidekick began hanging up and wouldn't close. After shutting down manually, it wouldn't open up, just hung there. I uninstalled and went to rename wininit.ini - and there IS no wininit.ini file anywhere. Is that a change with the latest SP? How do I accomplish installing Sidekick now?

Help, please

Thanks, DP
