This problem has only started recently and only happens when I access Favorites from the start menu (it worked ok before). If I access Favorites in my browser or the Favorites File itself, no problem. When I go to a favorite from Start, right click won't open up to the window 'open, print screen, send to, delete, properties' etc. I don't want to System Restore, preferring to actually find out what happened or what I may have inadvertantly done and fix from there. I'm happy to go into the registry if need be. Thanks in advance.

Hi Yateesh, thanks for replying. I can access Favorites normally from the start menu but when I pick a favorite (any) after the tree opens up, right click doesn't work on it. So therefore, I can't for eg. rename, copy, delete, properties etc. Right click won't open it up. But if I access Favorites in my browser or the actual Favorites folder itself, everything works as normal. This only started maybe a week ago and I can't put it down to anything I've done out of the ordinary. I use Avast and Malwarebytes, everything shows up clean.
Thanks in advance again.

Could you please check if you could perform the same action by going to C:\documents and settings\ "your user name" and see if you can right click on the favorites there.. If yes please reply.

c/documents and settings folder is hidden. When I 'unhide', my 'username' folder is locked and won't open. When I access 'my username' from 'start' and go to the Favorites folder, everything is normal as it used to be. I can right click on any favorite and the same facility is there as would be to right click on any folder etc
