Hi,

I've used notepad for saving most of my passwords and other content. All of the content saved with comic sans font. I've the notepads in my external hard disk a 500GB Seagate. I'm unsure whether it is a problem with Windows 7 or something else, but i'm not able to see any text in any of my notepads that i've saved on my hard disk. Can any one shed any light into the problem.

Just a quick question.

Did you save your notepad documents from another earlier version of Windows? (in otherwords migrated them from Windows 98/ME/XP into Windows 7)

Did you recently clean out your fonts during a recent disk cleanup?

Basic Security advise, Why are you saving your critical passwords in a notepad file on your hard drive? Passwords can be manipulated or stolen or hack your main hard drive or your external hard drive. I wouldn't recommend to keep passwords on the hard drives because of spy ware or virus.

To answer your notepad question

Can you try to select all and pick out a new front? Might be your computer is not correctly install comic sans front.

or

Is it not showing your notepad file? I would check for hidden files and folders if you accidentally hide it. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-7/

I wouldn't do Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). because that option hides the systems files which operate your computer

Hi, Bruce.

Yes I did save my notepad documents in Windows XP system a few months back and opened the same notepads in Windows 7 system recently. Could this affect the notepad application? I've not tested the same notepad file in an XP system so far. I thought that you could view notepad files with no such problems.

Hi, Coxchris.

I'm able to open the notepads but i cannot see any text within them. The funny thing is I can select the unseen text. I even tried other fonts including comic sans in my Windows 7 system but i cannot get a text output of the same. It's just the same old blank window with invisible text. The text was black in colour when i saved them. I even changed the colour in my system for the fonts. But still, to no avail.
