My name is Chris, I am a relatively new user of this site and I really appreciate the help that you all provide. I have a desktop computer that runs on XP, I have not been able to use it for several months due to a very bad case of Antiviruspro 2010 (we have a laptop that gets all the use now).
Anyway, in an attempt to once again take back my desktop I have been trying to clear this problem using the advice given on Bleeping Computer (and I have made some progress), but my computer is not as of yet usable.
Following the instructions of I have been able to open task manager and remove SVACHAST
When I then attempt to open Internet Explorer or Firefox, so as to continue on with the removal process, I always get the following message:
"this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem"
Would you be able to provide me with a next step in hopes of correcting this?
