However, I recently got infected with one of the variants of the Microsoft Security Center virus, which would tell me that files on my computer were infected and that i needed to run a system scan (to a n00bs eye it would have looked VERY legit). Would then pop up with 'warnings' every few minutes and not allow me to open new programs. Having googled the problem, I came across this site and ran MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware. Seemed to fix that problem.
However, I'm now getting some google redirects when doing searches, and some new tab/window popups in Firefox and IE. Nothing too intrusive or malicious yet, but I'd like to nip this in the bud sooner rather than later. I tried running MBAM/SUPERAS/SpybotS&D/AviraAntiVir several times over the last week and a bit...each time one or the others picks up trojans/tracking cookies and removes them. Upon restart the computer is fine but within a day or two the redirects and popups return and just get worse with time.
I'm currently at the point of scanning every two days, to try and stay on top of this.
OS is XP-SP3
I'd greatly appreciate any help, as this computer is also regularly used for doing after-hours work.
