really annoying, i just bought a new computer with windows 7 ultimate, and im trying to install an antivirus. but every time i try to install one, it will get very slow and freeze at some point, and never actully finished. no matter what anti virus im trying. iv recived a few of these "visual c++" errors, but if i try to install that it says its suspended and to undo the changes iv made. trying to do that also results in the installation freezing.SOOOO what am i going to do?

im running on an asrock motherboard with the intel core duo E7500 and 4GB of DDR2 memory and its 64-bit.

Which Anti-virus programs have you tried?
Do they officially support Win 7 64bit? And if they do, did you download the right version?

One more thing you could try:

Select the installation(setup) file, right-click , choose 'Run As' , select the Administrator profile (Run as administrator) > Ok

so i fixed the freezing issue(by simply reinstalling windows) but now it seems my current antivirus(eset nod32) isnt working properly due to windows missing a few security update. i try to get these updates but it has stopped at "installing update 23 out of 24" and just hangs there. is there any other way to install this update?

What update is hanging? How long did you wait? Sometimes it can take a while for an update to finish...
