A friend is having problems with a stubborn virus on his HP with Vista.

The virus has blocked his Norton, doesn't seem to allow avast install and etc. He tried removing Norton through uninstall and parts of the program remains.

His computer is freezing up and his email is sending online pharmacy emails out to his contacts.

I'm thinking one of the storm worm variants.

Windows one call could not correct the problem. He is going to Trend Micro Housecall to see if he can get a name. I've suggested a malwarebytes down load then a remove through safe mode. Do you have any other ideas?
