IE won't connect to internet at all!!

I have Vista home premium 32 bit operating system. I recently got a " rogue.antivirussoft " fake AV on my computer. I tried repeatedly to get rid of it in safe mode but the fake AV would show back up when computer was rebooted. Finally, it was caught by my Norton internet security and it seemed like it was gone. Then I noticed that my Internet explorer (I had IE7) would no longer connect to the internet. It read, " internet explorer cannot display webpage ". However, my firefox was working. I thought maybe the fake AV virus corrupted some of the registry files in IE ( I wasn't sure) so after trying a few things I decided to finally update to IE8 hoping that that would fix my problem. It did not! Please help!!

Reset your internet options from the "advanced " Tab. Worked for me today.
Make sure you restart your pc after you reset.. I am using IE 8. I don't think it makes a difference though.

Hello,This infection changes your Windows settings to use a proxy server that will not allow you to browse any pages on the Internet with Internet Explorer or update security software. Regardless of the web browser you use, for these instructions we will first need need to fix this problem so that we can download the utilities we need to remove this infection. This is from step 4 in our guide.



You need to do all the steps.

You will move to the Automated Removal Instructions

After you completed that, post your scan log here,let me know how things are.
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
