Hello, I've recently been helped by one of bleepingcomputer's malware experts in which we rid my computer of some malware. I need to update my computer but Windows Update will not update. It will search for updates, give me the option to install, but when i click install, the whole window closes, or it will give me an error. I'm using Vita Home Premium 32 bit. Here's a screenshot of the error.

Hello..
Windows Update error 8024001b

If you receive Windows Update error 8024001b while trying to install updates, an update for Windows Update itself is being installed. Depending on how many programs are currently running and which operating system files or folders are affected while this update is being installed, it might take several minutes before you can install other updates for your computer. Try installing updates again later.

If the problem persists after you try installing updates later, go to the Windows Update Support Center website to request support by e‑mail.

Help and Support search term: WindowsUpdate_8024001b

It seems you've had this problem in the past: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/277576/windows-and-antivirus-will-not-update/

And here is a link to your latest malware removal topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/314781/apmanager-copyright-trojan/

As cryptodan asked, what anti-virus and firewall are you using?

Try disabling the Windows Firewall and see if it will allow you to update windows?

Wait....perhaps I should have said Safe Mode with Networking...certainly can't access Microsoft's update servers if your connection is disabled. My bad.

If that doesn't work, try running Windows Update in a diagnostic startup

To perform a diagnostic startup, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, click Diagnostic Startup, and then click OK.
3. Restart your computer.

Make sure the Windows Update service is checked before you exit msconfig. If you have to check it, it won't technically be a true diagnostic startup anymore, but that's okay.

I'm just trying to see if there is a startup program or service that is keeping Windows Update from working.

I would download these tools: Maywarebytes Anti-Malware and Super Antispyware. Post the results here.

In case you hadn't noticed Dan, the OP just got through with a log topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/314781/apmanager-copyright-trojan/

There should be no infection, but it's possible the malware disabled Windows Update somehow....
