PC 1.6 Ghz, WinXP home edition, 532MP memory

Lately when I first bootup, the process gets hungup at the "Verifing DMI pool data" point. If I push the reboot button it ususally starts up but this morning I had to do it about 3 times. I've run a diagnostic program "Checkit Diagnostics" and found no problems. I've also run a complete scan with System Works and found no problem. Any ideas???

Thanks

Hi pinegum,

I found several references to your problem. Microsoft states that it is caused by a hardware problem. Which piece - they didn't say  I did come accross another site that had extensive info on your error. Many things could cause the problem.

Computer Hope

Take a look...

Good luck and please post back to let us know what you determined was the cause of your error.

Good luck,

Rigel

Thanks Rigel,
I do have a bad CD-RW device, or at least it doesn't want to seem to work. When I put a CD in it and try to view it, nothing shows in the drive. That may be causing the problem. I plan to replace it with a combo CD-RW/DVD. The "Computer Hope" reference has some good suggestions.
Thanks again for your assistance.
