Hello,
I run a dual boot XP and VIsta. I had a total HD crash on Vista. I have changed the broken Vista HD to a eSATA external and I am now starting to reinstall Vista. Of course all this preparation work was done on the XP system. Now on my XP system has a C: HD for base system and a V: HD for the Vista system (to be installed) .see screenshot.

After installing Vista onto the V: HD is there a solution to rename the V: HD to C: HD to avoid many manipulation in VIsta .
Searched result
1/ Boot XP on the C: XP HD
2/ Boot Vista on the C: Vista HD (old name V:)

I hope that my question is clear....
Thanks in advance

No manipulations involved.

XP is first O/S installed, hence it is C: when booting into it, with any subsequent partition being named successively.

Vista is second O/S installed, on second partition/drive...it will be C: when booted into, with the XP install assuming a different drive letter and categorized as a local drive.

Since a user can only have one C: (active partition) and the Windows booted into will always be seen as C: from within...there is no conflict to resolve. Applications installed in either O/S will be installed to the C: partition, unless user specifies differently on each installation.
