A few days ago my computer was infected with a "windows defender" virus, which I managed to get rid of the majority of by running malewarebytes in safe mode. There is still something very wrong as I get redirected to strange ad websites when clicking links from google searchs, and the overall speed of my computer seems to be about half.

I did all of the prep guide steps, but had some issues right away. When I ran DDS, the only thing that came up was a notepad screen" DDS-notepad" with some jarbeled mess of text. No txt to post!!

When I ran GMER scan my screen went black after 5 seconds of scanning and I had to shut my computer down to get it back.

Not sure where to go from here, but hoping someone can help.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.
