It looks like my computer is infected with a virus that I can't resolve with my existing antivirus / antispyware software (mcafee, malwarebytes, superantispyware).

Internet search results are being redirected to irrelevant sites - this happens with both google and yahoo search. I have tried it only on internet explorer.

Another problem (could be related, not sure) that I have noticed happening on my computer over the last few days is with internet security zones. It seems to switch it to something where the IE browser would say security setting is not safe, and I had to restore the security settings to default to use the browser again.

My system / software info: Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3, running on a Dell Inspiron 530, Internet Explorer Version 8.

I have read a few threads related to search results redirection on this site, but couldn't resolve my issue with those. So, I decided to open a new topic on this issue.

Can you please help? Much appreciated.

EDIT: Moved from XP forum to more appropriate Am I Infected ~ Hamluis.

Download this file and save it to your desktop:

Copy it over to the problem computer on a CD or pen drive if you need to.

Double-click the file to run it. A command window will open briefly. Then run a quick scan with Malwarebytes. Post the Malwarebytes log.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
