2 weeks ago I see my computer screen is completely blank. ctrl/alt/delete or any other button push doesn't do anything. So I restart my computer. Then I get the "Bootmgr is missing" screen; over and over and over again. So I put my Vista disk in the drive and restart, but Vista boots up just fine. It works till 2 days ago when I find the same blank screen. So I put the Vista disk back in and boot from the disk and I get a blue screen. I put both 64 bit and 32 bit Vista disks into each of my DVD drives and both give me a blue screen.
My friend says it could be a virus. He suggests I get a hard drive, disconnect all hard drives but the new one, and install Vista. I try this and still get the blue screen. So I try replacing all my data cables to the hard drives and DVD drives with no success. So I re-connect the old hard drive and now Vista loads and has been working ever since. So I do a full scan with Avast and it doesn't find anything. There were 3 files it couldn't scan though. This is what it listed:
C:Windows\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG\WD-20100428-1216.dmp
C:Windows\MEMORY.dmp
C:Windows\System32\winevt\Logs\Microsoft-Windows-Resources-Exhaustion-Detector%4operational.evtx
I am worried that this problem will come back again. Does anybody have any ideas what the problem is? Thanks for any help!
