this is quite bizarre, my mother has recently got herself a new laptop and everything seems to work normally, no pop up's or error messages but noticed the trackpad can't access anything on the desktop e.g.

cannot right-click on desktop
cannot launch any short cuts on desktop
cannot access recycle bin on desktop

it's as though the whole desktop has been disabled but I can still access stuff on the taskbar in the usual way

I am pretty stumped to tell you the truth...any ideas???

ok figured out how to reproduce the 'frozen desktop' and it happens every time after you close internet explorer

so on upon initial start-up and for that matter after every restart, the desktop works as normal but then when you launch IE and close it then the desktop is frozen?

luckily it doesn't happen if you use firefox
