Avanquest, developers of BVRP, are absolutely useless when trouble hits.

I had version 6 of this software and had no problems whatsoever on the same pc. Now, version 9 has decided it doesn't answer incoming calls. It will send facsimiles and it will allow me to dial out; but it will not answer the incoming call.

My modem has the correct driver. I have a data/voice/fax modem (which are hard to come by now).

I was going to return to version 6, but I can't find the disk and Avanquest will not permit me to download it.

This is the last purchase I make from Avanquest.

Modem:

MODEM #1:
PCI CONFIGURATION INFORMATION READ:
VENDOR ID : 14F1
DEVICE ID : 2702
SUBVENDOR ID : 1028
SUBDEVICE ID : 8D88
REVISION ID : 01

DEDUCED INFORMATION:
VENDOR NAME : CONEXANT
DEVICE NAME : SMARTHSF CHURCHILL DATA/FAX/CARP
SUBVENDOR NAME : UNKNOWN
MODEM TYPE : HSF
WINXP INBUILD SUPPORT : NO

Any advice other than purchasing better software?

Thanks.

Can't get help at Avanquest BVRP, can't get help here.

Great forums, guys!

You don't answer questions or you close the topics. Yeah, that's real helpful!

If no-one here has any experience of the software, it's difficult to offer much in the way of help.

I for one have never heard of it.

Platypus sums it up really; I had this program, BVRP Classic Phone Tools,
with my seven year old computer when it was strictly dialup for many.

I can only look at an old version (4.16) and suggest that the settings
under Setup / General Setup and Answering Machine Setup, may need a tweak;
something along the lines, send is active, receive is active and there should
be an auto feature to recognise the modem.
-------------------------------------------------------------

You have bought version 9; it is not fit for purpose;
can you not ask for a refund and then re-acquire version 6, about $29.90.

I am assuming you have removed the program through add/remove and reinstalled
and it still doesn't work as you want it.

After uninstallation, ensure the folder Classic Phone Tools is totally gone in Program Files.

I think so many people have moved on from dialup to Broadband that there
are few who can make suggestions, about this software.

My own view would be that it is not a software problem, more likely settings.

I haven't been able to track down any freeware programs.
