The Avira Rescue CD seems like a great tool to use on a computer that is in a bad way. I read the tutorial on the site and I have only one question about the instructions, the last step.

"9) Boot on Windows normally. Run a full system scan with AntiVir to quarantine all the renamed files (.XXX extension)."

Does this mean you have to remove the current A/V on a computer and install Avira or do they have an on-line scanner to use to quarantine the files?

The tutorial for Avira Rescue CD is posted in the Avira forums where the majority of the members use Avira anti-virus. So naturally, they would recommend running a full scan with Avira AV afterwards. The Resuce CD is a stand-alone tool and you can use your existing anti-virus to perform the full scan afterwards.
