Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this query but....we had an virus issue with our pc recently and had to get it essentially wiped and rebuilt. My pc isn't accessed by anyone else so I always had email / social networking sites etc with automatic login. Since the pc was rebuilt the pc ignores instructions to save the password. Any suggestions as to how I can sort this? Many thanks.

Have you tried resetting Internet Explorer and clearing all browsing history?

How to reset Internet Explorer settings

After performing a fix or change, be sure to close all open browser windows, then reopen Internet Explorer.

You're welcome!

Yeah, whenever I have a fix that goes further deeper than the surface, I always provide detailed instructions (sometimes using a linked tutorial). :flowers:

Hi, back again unfortunately.....logged on today and I'm back to square one. Any ideas on how this might be happening and how the setting could be saved?

Many thanks.

Try deleting the pwl files

Start - search - all files or folders
In the search for box type
*.pwl

It will be recreated when you start Internet Explorer
In the beginning there was the command line.

No, cryptodan is referring to the InPrivate Browsing feature that is exclusive to Internet Explorer 8. What is InPrivate Browsing ?

What version of IE are you using?

Not InPrivate Filtering...InPrivate Browsing.

See here for the differences between the two.

InPrivate Browsing does not start on its own anyway, so that can't be your problem. You must select for it to run when you want it to.

Are you using any programs like Ccleaner to clear history, temp files, cookies, etc..?
