Can I open documents created on Open Office on a linux based system using a windows based Open Office?

I am a teacher, and have had my students do some assignments on Open Office using machines that run Edubunu. They have then uploaded their assignments and I want to be able to mark them at home but I have windows based Open Office. Will I be able to open their assignments? :thumbsup:
