Hello,

I am currently getting these errors in Event Viewer: The IP address lease 192.168.x.xx for the Network Card with network address xxxxxxxxxxxx has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.x.x (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Unable to add the interface { ........} with the Router Manager for the IP protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function.

I got this way following installation of some software, so I suspect an undetected registry change. I removed what viruses I could detect and removed the recently-installed software. The number of errors has been reduced and the startup process is faster, but I still have those last two issues. The services appear to be running normally when I view them in Windows. I cannot do a system restore, not even in safe mode and sfc /scannow gives a RPC not available error.

I am running a triple boot operating system xp/Vista/Win7. The problem is on the first partition (XP). Thank you in advance for any assistance.

How about backstory? What viruses did you remove?

Sorry, I uninstalled two of the anti-spyware programs that I used to remove the viruses as both of them were suspect. I know they were all listed trojans - the usual keygen/patch stuff. . I also removed AVG in favor of Kaspersky. No point in saying what programs they were attached to. Some of them were not likely related (in restore files) but a couple of them probably were. Some of them may be on quarantine on the other partitions as I scanned from Vista and from Win7 as well. I'll look tomorrow. The first change I noticed was the blue screen at startup saying "starting RPCSS" which hung a minute or so. As I did more virus scans and removed some viruses, the blue screen information screens went away again and there was just the usual momentary black screen after the WinXP startup page with the scanning bar before the Welcome screen. That was the configuration I had been used to and that's the way it is now. Everything is working fine except no system restore or System File Checker. That's not a comfortable position. It may have been this time for awhile, but I don't think so.
