I have been working with a BC consultant deworming my laptop and we have it nearly done, except the final steps required me to disable my anti viru, which was avast.
when I attempted to re activate it, the mail part of the protection I could do nothing with it. both options, on and off were highlighted. only one or the other are supposed to be highlighted at one time.
I could do nothing with it.
I thought I would uninstall it and then re-install it. I couldn't uninstall it. so...I installed it again and then tried uninstall again and it worked. only, now I can't re-install it. it gives me a notice of this and gives me a log to view.

so I discarded this idea and decided to download a different anti virus, AVG, which I have used in the past.
it was almost done installing and detected conflicting software with an outdated version of roxio easy CD.
the instructions directed me to either up date or uninstall roxio, which is what I would like to do, only I can't find it anywhere on the computer.
now I'm sitting without an anti-virus on that laptop, so I have it turned off, still, unable to use it.
suggestions>?

Try a complete uninstall of Avast and Roxio.

Avast Uninstall Utility: awsClear.exe

Perhaps doing a search and deleting any leftover Roxio files
Roxio un install list

the first link, to clear avast, leads me to a blank white page.
the second link takes me to roxio, but I can find nothing when searching for the program or files as stated in it's step by step removal.

For AVast
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

I didn't know your utility or version so I found a generic page for Roxio
