I am running windows xp and I am getting the same search engine re-direct problem that everyone seems to have right now. Some other things I've noticed are that I cannot access microsoft windows update website and can't get the automatic updater to run. Also what tipped me of to the problem was that all of the websites that usually remember my login information had forgotten them. After doing some reading on other topics I have noticed that the atapi.sys driver seems to be infected on a lot of peoples computers that have this problem and after a scan I believe mine is as well. If you need any other information please let me know, and thank you to anyone who can help.

No need to worry about this post because I moved it to the malware removal log forum because it seemed like that's where most of the people with this problem ended up.

Now that you have an open HJT log posted in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, you shouldn't make any changes to your system.
This includes running any other "cleaning" programs.
Doing so, could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system.

At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

I'm closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team.
If, after your log has been cleaned, you still need help, please PM a Moderator and we will re-open this topic.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM.
