I recently received the ava.EXE virus. Verizon AV software caught it but could not contain it. After 7 hours on my computer they got it but could not fix the redirect. They suggested reinstalling vista I said know ill get it .
Here is what happens.
Open IE type in a search in either google web page or google tool bar and get to google search results. select a result and get redirected. Type in the address in the address bar and most of the time get to your site . *exception going to security sites IE Microsoft updates displays explorer cannot display this page . or 404 forbidden .
* ran with no addons no change.
Same results in Fire fox

Google Chrome opens but never connects to a site.

Fixes tried: Uninstalled IE8 reinstalled IE7 . reinstalled google chrome. Checked LAN settings in IE tools. checked programs running . reset netsh int ip and netsh winsock. checked HOSTS file. and did a few minor reg edits. still no change. Any ideas? I have Hijack this log if needed. Thanks.
Operating system Vista on a gateway with all the latest updates . running Verizon AV software .
