Try this linkActive@killdisk. The last time i used it it took hours.
I prefer Digital Dolly instead of Kill disk. DD will let you do alot more. Format, repartition, resize, DOD security wipe, and more...It boots to a Linux GUI and is easy for the new use. And best of all it's free. It is comparable to Partition Magic.

Try this link for the XP installation instructions.

Installation time will vary by system.

I have never used the clean wipe software, but acklan mentioned hours.
The XP installation could take a good hour for just getting XP installed.
Although the total installation time will take much longer since you need to install all the patches, updates, and your software.

If I were to format my computer now and reload it from scratch, it would probably take a day or so before I had every installed and running as it did before. Although, I wouldn't sit in front of it waiting for every prompt.

Just give yourself plenty of time to do this and there won't be an issue.

Good-Luck.

Doubtful. Like Joshuacat said the basic install is about an hour. If your connection is as slow as you stated it is an all day afair. If not longer.
