I want to attach a pc tower to my laptop and work on the pc tower. Do I have to boot the hard drive or can I just work on it like its an external hard drive? Is there a guide around that can help me? Or should I just connect it to my network and share files.

If you network the 2 computers you could then install VNC Server on the tower and a VNC Client on the laptop. Then you could login to the tower from the laptop with full control of the tower.
