Can't view video

When trying to view video files in Media Player, Real Player, or Creative Media Source, it does not play then locks if i try to close the application. Can anyone help?

What is your operating system? Have you run scandisk and defrag and Windows cleanup lately?

Running XP PRO. I have not run either recently. We are on a network with a volunteer administrator who, unfortunately is not much help. I'll try that when I log off this afternoon.

I did lower my video acceleration in Media Player. That seems to help but still locks occasionally in Creative MediaSource. Running latest versions in both. Defragging would probably be the solution.
