Hello Vista Community,
Windows support can help me on the subject, so its why i ask your contribution to help me to solve the PB.

How to reconfigure from scratch my CD / DVD read/write on VISTA ?

- option 1: without reloading the complete vista system
- option 2: what else ?

Many thanks in advance,

My best regards,

/Christophe

Have you tried the automated solution from the Windows Fixit solution center? This link will take you directly to the one on CD/DVD not working.

Let us know how it works (or more importantly if it doesn't lol).

Does a disc spin when you put one it? When you click start>computer can you see your cd/dvd drive listed? Does it show up in your BIOS? Have you googled for either a firmware or driver update?

Hello DeathStalker,
thanks for your help, i appreciate.
To answer your questions:
  • Does a disc spin when you put one it? ***well i think not properly,. It means at a low speed.***
  • When you click start>computer can you see your cd/dvd drive listed? ***NO. When the DVD or CD is inserted, it takes time to read then the driver open automatically ans ask a disk***
  • Does it show up in your BIOS? I don't know
  • Have you googled for either a firmware or driver update? *** I may not have PB with driver since the PB is not detected***
Hope it help.

My best regards,
/Christophe

If it is a Desktop as stated in your PM, then try different cables.
