i was using firefox for my browser until it started opening by itself (out of the quicklaunch bar) and going to various poker, spyware, and other websites. i have used spybot and adware to try and fix the problem. Some of my friends seem to think i had spyware on my computer. A friend thought I may have a malware.

In addition, in IE and Firefox while the browser is opened will go to other sites like in the above paragraph. Do not know how to proceed from here. Am using Windows 2000.

If I leave firefox minimized, it will pop up and go to some various website.

Please let me how to proceed.
