Help please, trying to help my son who's advent netbook 4211-B suddenly went to 'blue screen' (so he says ?)
The machine is installed with windows xp pro, i have a pro disc available for re-install, but when trying it goes through the loading process but doesnt get any further, if i choose install xp it loads but stops with the blue screen registry error stop, i try repair console by pressing 'R' but cannot get any further, it shows - 1 C: windows press enter but nothing happens, do i need to wipe the disc ? but i am a novice need idiot guide. Thanks.

EDIT : this netbook does not have a cd drive, so did not come with a recovery cd.

You might post the content of the error.

read the text at the bottom of the repair screen. You should press "1" rather than enter in most cases since enter tells the repair console to close.

Google repair console before you go into it though since it is not usually something a novice can use effectively on intuition alone
