I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows XP. I use DSL. My computer starts up normally, but it takes about 10 minutes to do so. After start up is completed it seems to run well and about an hour later it acts as if it is dial-up (very slow), and eventually freezes. Can anyone give me some advice as to what this may be, or how to correct it?

Hi -
First run CHK DSK - It will take about 30 mins and restart your system - Ensure there are no other programs running first -
Cut and paste this code into Start > Run box then click OK -
It is a 5 stage check and will repair most faults -

Thank You -

EDIT - After that other problems may be looked at -
