Printer Spooler Not In Service

Windows XP

I just cleaned my infected computer. Now, my printer isn't working. I made an attempt to "Add Printer" but I get the message

"Printer Spooler Not In Service". I'm not sure what a printer spooler is much less how to put it in service. I hope someone can help
