Im new to this site and seem to have run into a problem with my laptop. I was looking for a funny picture for a fantasy baseball league and most have come across a bad website. Im pretty sure I didnt download anything but the one site I went to through google images would not let me go back to the google image page so I x'ed out. I then got a windows security screen that I have never seen before saying I had been infected so i shut down the computer and went to sleep. Today I start up the computer and see 3 icons on desktop youporn, pornotube and i do not recall the third one. My computer then froze. After attempting to restart a few times i kept running into issues. So i decided to search google on my sisters computer, which im on now, to see if similar problems have happened. I came across this site and see you had helped people with this similar problem on this forum. While going through the preparation guide i downloaded the program to disable the cd emulation on a portable jump drive and was able to open it up on the infected computer and disable cd emulation. While downloading the DSS program on the jump drive from my sisters computer the infected computer froze. I shut it down and attempted to the reboot. The blue dell letters come up then the next screen says pb2..done then a screen comes up asking please select the operating system to start:
Microsoft Windows Recovery Console or Windows XP media center Edition. Chossing the Media center edition brings up a black screen and thats it which requires me to manually shut down computer. Choosing the recovery console brings up a black screen with a blinking _ and that is all once again requiring me to reboot manually. I am able to get the Windows Advanced Options menu up by pressing F8 during the blue dell screen. Trying to run in safe mode, safe mode with networking, or safe mode with command prompt brings up a bunch of multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\Windows commands half way down a black screen and does nothing from there again requiring a manual shutdown. On the Windows Advanced options Menu there are also a couple of other options such as Enable Boot Logging, Enable VGA Mode, Last Known Good Configuration (which just brings up blank black screen) , Directory Services Restore Mode (which brings up the same multi(0)disk commands as earlier mentioned) , Debugging Mode, and Disable Automatic Restart on system failure.
Im really stuck from this point on. I was in the process of getting the DSS and other information you ask for in order for you to succesfully diagnose the problem but this is what im stuck with now. I know this is alot of info but I tried to explain as in detail as possible for any type of help.
Thank You in advance
