I found this forum while trying to troubleshoot a nasty rootkit install on my computer that I could not remove. I am regular on Anandtech and Hardforums (under the same username), but I was not making much headway in getting that rootkit off. I was about to reformat and reinstall the OS when for some strange luck, I just happened to type a search string into google that brought me to a thread here that mentioned Combofix. I thought, well, what the heck.

Combofix not only found the rootkit, but it did a lot of other good things in the process (system restore point, windows recovery console install, etc.).

Bravo to sUBs and the users on this forum for helping me lick this rootkit problem.

I look forward to contributing my expertise here.

Cheers,

Pradeep

Hello pradeep1 and  to Bleeping Computer.

Please take a few moments to browse the New User Orientation forum, to help familiarize yourself with how the forum works.

Also, don't forget to check out the Tutorials.
There is a lot of very useful information there.
