I am trying to remove Security Tool" off my computer and its been going great untill I hit step #22. This step wants me to delete the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file but I have no clue where to go to do this. I need to replace it with a new file to proceed on so can anyone here help get me thru this step? Thanks Mike.

Hello fordmike1

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories, right click on Notepad and select Open as Administrator.
This gives you a notepad that is running as an administrator.
Go to File > Open, browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Select All Files from the drop down just above the Open button and then open the Hosts file for editing.

Now proceed with stepp 22. Use this one as the replacement ... Windows Vista HOSTS File Download Link

You can post the Malware bytes log for review and let us know how it's doing now.

The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.

NOTE: I am moving this from Vista to the Am I Infected forum.
