I want to connect my cd rom drive and hdd up, but can't get them to recognize if they are both plugged in at the same time.

I can get my hdd to recognize in either primary or secondary slot, but once i connect the cd-rom drive to a slot then nothing is detected at all, not the cd-rom or the hdd. ive tried a few things, like connecting at different points of the cable(slave and master) and selecting cd-rom and trying auto in bios.

nothing seems to work.

any help would be appreciated.

could you please tell us your remedy for this problem, so that when somebody else confronts this, they can do a simple search and find it with ease?

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
