I somehow got AntiVirus Vista 2010 on my laptop (Dell D830, running Vista Ultimate). My computer repair people told me to run Combofix (I have a log file), which I did. I walked away from the computer and came back to find the log file in Notepad and all of my Word documents, old emails, sent emails, contacts (Outlook Express) gone. I can't open the Window for Computer. Help!

ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look here

Unlike what many people think, Combofix is not a fix-all program that's just "run and done". It is a highly specialized tool that should only be used under the supervision of an expert. It's not an "everyday use", clean-all program.

Please post a new topic in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs sub-forum, with a description of the issues you are having and the log file. Please note: the Malware Response team are always overwhelmed, and it could take a few days to get your first reply. Just be patient and don't "bump" your topic by replying to it. You will also likely be scolded for running Combofix without supervision.

Good luck.

Thanks. I deserve the scold. I did a system restore back to last week and got my files back, but I'm not sure I've dealt with the virus, so I'll post the grisly details in the proper place.

Include the Combfix log as you have run it with the DDS and GMER logs. In case you were unsure.
Let us know it went OK.
