I was browsing the net innocently and got infected. The bogus rogue spyware was called XP Internet Security and XP Defender Pro. I used the guide from this site to fix the problem today, but my .exe files aren't appearing, and I'm pretty sure I got redirected when I was online just now. I'm unable to run any anti virus/spyware programs. Should I system restore?

Also, should I get another antivirus rather than AVG (it did detect the viruses when it happened but failed to deter them obv)? If I were to get Windows 7 would that offer significant protection over XP?

Thanks very much.
