can anyone point me to where i should be directing both vista issues and laptop issues cuz i think i been sold short on the laptop.

You could probably start with a post in the Vista forum; if it turns out that the problem is NOT with the Operating System, but with (for example) the hardware, either you will be directed to post additional information elsewhere, or the post will be moved to the forum which will best help you solve the problem.
