Hey all,

My father recently hired someone to design a website for his restaurant, and I've been tasked with the job of having it hosted and making it look less dinky.
The background on the site is a JPEG of a gradient, and it is inserted into each page individually (the designer failed to create a style sheet, which I am in the process of creating).

The background appears on the page when viewed in the Dreamweaver preview window, as wel as when seen in Chrome. However, Firefox and IE both fail to show the background. Since most of the site's font is white, this has the added effect of making the website nearly useless.

The website is permanently hosted at http://athensofseneca.com

I have another copy of the site hosted on my personal account at http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~zyan8/Athens_of_Seneca/ which displays the background in all browsers.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be done to fix this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

To err is human, to really screw up you need a computer.

Try validating the code first: http://validator.w3.org/

The background image loads in all pages except the menu page for me in IE and Firefox.

EDIT: The reason that the background does not load on the menu page is because the path is wrong.

Web site loads slow because you have put huge images in it. The logo image Athens_top.jpeg is 2048x205 pixels ! Why not re-size it and make it smaller according to the code of your site. Why are you using flash buttons when there is no animation in them ?

What I do is make my bk image to width=1, because across is the same thing, but height you will need to make what ever size you image are. So that way the image dose not take long to load.
Cheers  !

Oh oh oh, with the buttons, you can use png (round corners can be transparent, that the good new).
And why are you using flash, even if was going to be animated you can set it by using html. Like release=image.png, hover=image.png/gif and that all.
Cheers again :flowers: !

The reason that the background does not load on the menu page is because the path is wrong.

Right, on main page it's url("Photos/Background.jpg"), but on menu page it's url("Background.jpg")

note: this is no relative to your original question

go to http://athensofseneca.com
click on home button and you get "The requested URL /Index.html was not found on this server."

the home button in http://athensofseneca.com/ point to http://athensofseneca.com/Index.html
but your home page name is index.html (all lowercase)
( lowercase/uppercase are not the same in Linux systems)

I think http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~zyan8/Athens_of_Seneca/ is hoted on windows server
