One thing I find very useful while working with Windows is to setup the Desktop Toolbar. (Right-click on Taskbar, Select Toolbars then check Desktop). This allows access to the items on the desktop without needing to actually go to the desktop.

As you can see by the attached image, you can also drill down into subfolders within the desktop. I find this very useful yet I don't ever seem to find others that use the feature. Is there some reason why others don't use this or is it just that people aren't aware of it?

Excellent tip!! I have to be honest, I just wasn't aware. It's now my new favorite thing.

It is about time I found someone else who uses the Desktop Toolbar, lol.

I love that thing, have always used it and could not do without it. It seems either nobody knows it is there, or would just rather use the QuickLaunch Toolbar, which I cannot stand. You cannot do anywhere near as much with that toolbar as you can the Desktop one

You can also use any other folder as a toolbar which can be undocked from the taskbar (at least in XP/2000/98) and attached to any other screen edge or left to float.

That's cool too! I've seen the option to create a "New Toolbar" but never tried it before. I just set one up to be able to access a folder on a network share.

Thanks for sharing such a brilliant tip. I actually see such in my friend's pc before, but hers was made default, so we do not understand it. And now I can use this, I have to say this function is really really wonderful!
