Ok, so if anyone that's been following the IT Security sector may know, not too long ago, Bitdefender had, what's being known as, the biggest screw up in the IT security sector industry when one of it's updates thought every clean file on a Windows Vista/7 64-bit OS was a trojan and tried to remove all the files on a computer.
My computer was one of many that went through that, however, I managed to save my computer before it formatting would become the only option. Recovering took some time but I thought that, by now, everything was back to normal....until 2 days ago.
In order to stop Bitdefender from removing all the system files off my comp, the antivirus had to be shut off until a patch was released. During this time, the company warned that malware writers were taking advantage of the situation to try and infect PC's and this is what got me.
At some point, I got an e-mail pretending to be a fake UPS delivery failure and in that e-mail was a virus that I didn't see until I scanned for it on my laptop later on (after the problem started in which a number of people were sent spam e-mails) and I found a few exe's on the laptop. The damage, however, has been done as Bitdefender's virus scanner can't find it and even though my laptop is unplugged, it did it again last night which means both my laptop & desktop are still infected.
You guys are my 2nd to last hope. The only other option that'll remain will be to format & reinstall my OS.
So without further ado, here is my log.
(As an additional note: I think one of my system files is still missing as GMER said that it couldn't find a system file when I opened the program and then an attempt to do a scan in GMER came up with a 2nd error before it began scanning. If the scan log is still useful without the registered system file, I'll post it as well.)
First, the preliminary HijackThis log file:
