I am not sure i am in the right place to get help, if i am not please feel free to move this topic

now i had been playing second life online for about three months and then all of a sudden the other day for no reason i could not play. i would log on and a minute later it would crash. has done this ever since.

i have completly uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared caches, tweaked settings, freed up memory, and just last night tried to update my graphic driver. i have ati and it was a real old one from 2006 so i went to ati and downloaded the catalyst panel and installed it and i thought my drivers updated succesfully because they now say jan 2010 and newer version. but when i tried to access second life after the graphics were all screwey and out of place like chunks of pictures. the only way i have been able to stay on second life this whole time was through a viewer called meerkat and it was extremely sloww..... so now i thought ok, maybe i can go into safe mode and play. well needless to say no i cant. it popped up an error message saying "Second life is unable to run because your video card drivers did not install properly ,are out of date, or are for unsupported hardware.please make sure you have the latest video card drivers and even if you do have the latest try reinstalling them.if you continue to recieve this message contact customer service."

so it was not doing this before. and i am really frustrated. is there anybody who can help me that can tell me how to update driver right and with the most current one??

i am running dell windows xp pro with pentium 4 cpu 3.40 GHZ 3.39 GHZ 1.00 GB of ram with the video driver of ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050

and the one i had before i updated was X300/X550/X86 sse2 ..

so should i role back driver and try again??

should i just role back and keep old one?

i really want to be able to play my game and am very upset.

please if you instruct me to do something please be very specific because i dont know much about this stuff.

also i have allot of other drivers that are not even installed on my comp that device manager says there are no drivers, if you think this is important i will tell you what they are.

thank you so much and have a good day!

when you go to device manager, try right clicking on the video driver (or any of the unknown ones for that matter) and click update. sometimes, not everytime, this will automatically update your driver for you.

you may have already tried this, but if not then its a start

In all honesty, I would upgrade to 2Gigs of RAM, and get a better video card if you are playing Second Life. Your X300 based card, will work but have issues like you are having.

your welcome youngmomma.
but i agree with cryptodan, upgrading your computer would take a lot more hassle out of your gaming experience then fooling with old hardware.

it seems like you are getting pretty upset with not being able to play your game, so i would guess that a simple upgrade would be worth it.

Secondlife is always doing stuff to their program that may increase the system specs.
