I cannot get the modem to install. It is a Conexant 56K DFV Modem. I have the disc that came with the Dell Dimension 8300 for drivers and utilities, but the installation wizard does not find the necessary files.

Any help? As for Dell Support, my account is allegedly locked even though I have not attempted to sign in more than once today.

Click "Modem Driver Assistance", click through, then run the "list Modem" app and see what specific chip you have, then download drivers from Conexant.
